VenaSeal™ + Phlebectomy Package, one leg

Evita Clinic

VenaSeal™ Treatment for Saphenous Vein Reflux Diagnosis before treatment What does VenaSeal treat? VenaSeal is primarily an option for adults with symptomatic superficial truncal reflux confirmed by duplex ultrasound. Reflux means blood flows backward through valves that are no longer working properly. The great or small saphenous vein may be considered when its anatomy and reflux pattern are suitable for catheter treatment. It is not a treatment for every visible vein. Spider and reticular veins are generally treated by other methods, such as sclerotherapy . An isolated bulging or tortuous tributary may be better suited to ambulatory phlebectomy . Surface branches may still need separate treatment after a refluxing trunk has been closed. Who may be a candidate? Assessment brings together leg symptoms, standing examination and duplex findings. Aching, heaviness, swelling or recurrent varicosities may prompt investigation, but these symptoms can have causes other than superficial venous reflux. VenaSeal may be considered when the target vein is accessible by catheter, the reflux is clinically relevant, and the patient can attend follow-up. A wish to avoid thermal ablation or injections of tumescent anesthetic along the vein can be part of the discussion. Vein course, size, proximity to other structures, previous treatment and deep venous findings also matter. Contraindications need a separate review.
